Not Looking At Faces
Never looking at faces,
Most of the memories are of the ground
Of people's feet
And of hands gesticulating
Looking for important objects inside of couch cushions
To avoid the eyes while seeming busy
From the top of where it found itself
It looks down at how it got up here
Seeing confounded and upset blue eyes looking up at it
It pulls itself back down with the rope it threw itself
When it gets back down it tells them it will never happen again
Making promises that it will technically keep
As it never speaks to them again
