This was an attempt at a video installation for Tirtza Even’s Video Installation class at SAIC. I have severe CPTSD, and when I get triggered it feels as if I am reliving various brutal events. I wanted to try and depict the psychosomatic pain response through an installation. I tried projecting this video onto a big cutout of a similar shaped guy, but it didn’t work exactly as planned. I’m going to revisit this project in the future. An idea we had in class was that I could try having one projector cast a blank light, forming a shadow of the guy behind the cutout, and then project the negative space and face onto the shadow.
